Surely many of you use the Win + R key combination to open the Run window in the Windows 10 operating system. With it, you can launch the necessary applications, open services, control panel and etc.
In May 2020, Microsoft plans to release a cumulative update, in which instead of the usual console, an alternative launcher will appear, in many ways resembling macOS 'Spotlight.
Is this good or bad?
At the first stage, users will be able to choose which tool to use - old or new. But over time, developers completely replace the classic window with a more modern tool. According to insiders, the launcher will look like this:
That is, when you click on Win + R , an input line with search support will be displayed not only among the Windows 10 system software, but also among the installed user programs.
Outwardly, it very much resembles the Spotlight panel, which is used by owners of computers running macOS:
So far, it is known that the innovation will be distributed only among participants in the Windows Insider Program. Already in May 2020 it will be possible to test it. Other users will receive an update with an improved launcher no earlier than October.
There is also information that Microsoft intends to greatly simplify the OS interface, remove duplicate components. And this means that in the future they can combine the "Search" and the "Run" window, since they will have almost identical functionality.
What do you think about this?
